McARTHUR, P. J. (Jack) Originally from Toronto's East End, then Aiken, South Carolina, and Richmond Hill, Ontario. Jack died in Toronto on March 12, 2002 in his 95th year as a result of complications from an automobile accident. He was married for more than 50 years to Olive Lavina McArthur (nee Campbell), who died in 1995. He leaves his daughter Judith Heddle and her husband John of Kleinburg, Ontario; his granddaughter Catharine Heddle and her husband Terry Lee of Toronto; and his grandson Robert Heddle of Kirkland, Washington. Jack was a well-read, self-educated man with a great entrepreneurial and adventurous spirit. He ended his career as owner of his own business. A lifetime member of the R.C.Y.C., he sailed the Great Lakes in his 44-foot steel-hulled yawl, ;Lamplighter;, which he built with his own hands. A funeral service will be held at the SHERRIN FUNERAL HOME (873 Kingston Rd., west of Victoria Park Ave., Toronto, 416-698-2861) at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2002. Reception to follow. Donations may be made to the Toronto East General Hospital Foundation. |
