Text WILLIAM STEWART CUNLIFFE McLAREN Peacefully at home on January 30, 2019, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease, surrounded by family and with the loving support of caregiver Judy. He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Daphne; his devoted children, Jane and Duncan; (Tomoko) and grandchildren, Kate, Akira and Maia. He also leaves behind his younger brother, Duncan; nephew, Angus (Allison); and many cousins. Bill was born in Ottawa on June 21, 1934 to Henry and Louise McLaren. He attended Hillfield School and Trinity College School in Port Hope and graduated as an engineer from the University of Toronto. He then attended Cranfield Aeronautical College in the UK, returning to Toronto to work at De-Haviland Aircraft. He moved to Montreal in 1960 to work at Canadair Ltd. in the dynamics analysis department before moving to Transport Canada, to work on ground transportation. He was a cub leader and soccer coach, never missing the weekend soccer games of Jane and Duncan. He loved golf and curled at the Royal Montreal Curling Club. In 1999 he and Daphne retired to Kingston, where he spent many hours sailing, golfing and curling. The family would like to thank LHIN support staff, including Vicki, Kaileigh, Corrine, Asjia, Will, and many other PSWs. A memorial service will be held on February 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Anglican Church, 10 Union Street West, Kingston, with a reception to follow at the Cataraqui Golf and Country Club, 961 King St. West, Kingston. Memorial donations may be made to Parkinson Canada, Trinity College School or any charity of your choice. Online condolences www.gftompkins-central.ca
